Fall Update

It’s been awhile, but we’ve been busy here in Bloomington! After a strong start to the year with the Steven Gomez finishing his first (last?) Ironman and the wedding of our spiritual leader Val Todorow, BKB was quick back to work on the bike, loading up on base miles and getting some fresh faces on the team. Upon writing, four rookies have decided they’re ready for the madness that is our team, and we hope they stick around!

On the bike, we’ve been busy. Some of us have decided that we still want some racing in the fall, and have gotten involved in the fabulous sport of cyclocross, with Nick racing the local OVCX circuit and Luke and Charlie starting to get their feet wet around the local scene. Abroad, distinguished alumni Isaac Neff has been destroying the Wisconsin CX scene (http://www.cxmagazine.com/cross-shooshko-weekend-wisconsin-2014), winning just about every local race he enters and garnering top tens and critical UCI points against the likes of Jeremy Powers, Tim Johnson and other national powerhouses.

Back in Bloomington, BKB pulled off the victory in the Fall Series, placing 7 of 9 people in the top 20, including 1-2 overall, in ITTs. And with strong showing in Street Sprints coupled with a win in cyclocross, we won the weekend and thus earned the ability to get first quick at quals times for the spring, for sure a big fall goal of ours. Further, we successfully proved we can still clown hard, using cyclocross as a faux-Halloween party. It’s only appropriate for this time of year.

It’s been a strong start to the year, and we’re excited to get deeper into the Little 5 season, and hope to continue our successes into the spring. There’s still lots of work to be done before April.
